The role of the new organisation is to provide:
• Responsive
services – advice, information and assistance to communities across Scotland
with an interest in improving access to film and the moving image.
• Developmental
services – in partnership with local authorities, as well as private, public
and voluntary sector organisations.
• Specialist
consultancy and research services related to the development of cinema in
Scotland.
• Management of
grant aid schemes devolved by Scottish Screen. A fund to support audience development through local film festivals and other unique events including tours will operate
throughout 2009-10 and 2010-11 (See 'Funding' page for details)
• Services
complementing the work of the Scottish cinema exhibition Hubs – Edinburgh
Filmhouse, Glasgow Film Theatre, Dundee Contemporary Arts, Eden Court in
Inverness, and the Edinburgh International Film Festival – and BFFS Scotland.
• Operating
the mobile cinema Screen Machine throughout remote and rural areas of
Scotland. Our regular touring circuit is based in the Highlands and Western Islands. Screen Machine is available for selected festival events and for commercial hire.
